our Story

The purpose of restoring antique furniture is to preserve its inherent value, original integrity and beauty.  Our wish is that you purchase an antique that will add both beauty and function to your home, which you will use and enjoy every day.

Claire Edwards opened Blue Cottage Design in 2016 in Nashua, New Hampshire. Claire has drawn inspiration from her family's country home in the Laurentians of Quebec, Canada and her own home of 24 years, a Royal Barry Wills New England Cape Cod home built in 1929.  Since then, she has lovingly maintained and added to their historic home with her husband John Edwards while raising their three daughters.

Along the way, Claire started Blue Cottage Design in response to the love of design and the integration of antiques into a modern setting that grew with her work on her Nashua home. Claire has grown Blue Cottage Design through her shop at Glorious Possibilities on Main Street in Nashua. Blue Cottage Design focuses on an ever-changing selection of antique furniture, art and decor furnishings. When looking for that special piece to fit the perfect spot, Claire will find it for you.

The Edwards home beautifully showcases Claire’s aesthetic and her carefully curated collection of antiques - American pieces from the pre-revolutionary and Federal period along with Canadian, Scandinavian and English country pieces.  Claire is focused on creating spaces that are highly livable and that are always personal and inspiring.

Blue Cottage Design offers you a varied assortment of personally selected furniture and furnishing objects from the 1700s to present day. We do restorations in our own workshop but we also have a big assortment of objects that are yet to be renovated. The published objects are only a peak of what we have in our storage. So if there’s something in particular you’re looking for or if you are looking to restore your own heirloom – send us a request. We may look forward to helping you.
